Developing a Cyber Centre of Excellence at City, University of London

The Cyber Resilience Centre for London is delighted to announce the opening of its new Head Office at City, University of London's Northampton Square campus.

The office provides the Centre with a permanent base in the Capital and has been made possible as a result of a strategic partnership with one of the country's leading academic institutions. The move will see the Centre have access to meeting rooms and conference facilities as well as other University resources. It will also provide opportunities for students at City to work in the Centre and develop their skills and knowledge to help them become workplace ready.

CEO of the CRC for London, Simon Newman said "We are incredibly grateful to City, University of London for hosting the Centre at their Northampton Square campus. Our shared vision is to build a Centre of Excellence at the University that brings together key stakeholders across London with a focus on reducing the vulnerability of SMEs to cyber-crime. This is an important first step towards achieving that vision.

The support we have received from the University has been absolutely first class and demonstrates the value they place on cyber resilience, as well as innovation in tackling key issues affecting the UK economy."

Professor Raj Muttukrishnan, Professor of Security Engineering and Director of the Institute for Cyber Security at City, said "We are excited to host the London CRC offices at City, University of London and looking forward to jointly establish a Centre of Excellence in Cybersecurity that can serve the needs of the London SMEs.”

The Cyber Resilience Centre for London forms part of a Network of regional Centres spanning all of England and Wales, working to boost the cyber resilience of the SME community which comprise 99.9% of UK businesses.

While the rising threat of cyber-crime has been no secret in the past decade, the state of resilience against these threats has remained underdeveloped with lack of widespread awareness and a shrinking workforce. With access to a pool of student talent and cutting-edge resources, the partnership between City and the CRC for London supports crucial work towards building the UK economy’s resilience, ensuring a safer, more prosperous future for its people.
